Everything I want every Daybreak Acres family to know

Cute puppy lying down and looking curious.

What do I get

During the first year of life, your puppy spends an incredible amount of time resting while growing. Although puppies certainly enjoy playing, they spend many hours sleeping each day, making the surface they rest on an important part of their daily environment.

One advantage of crate training is that you can intentionally provide a clean, supportive resting place during those early months. Rather than sleeping on blankets that bunch up or soft beds that flatten over time, the aluminum Kuranda Bed provides consistent support and excellent airflow while keeping your puppy up off the floor.

Because your puppy will already be spending time in the crate, I believe this is the best place to make your first investment.

One of the reasons I recommend the aluminum frame is because it's made to last. From the day a puppy comes home until they're a full-grown Bernese Mountain Dog, this is a bed you can continue using. It's lightweight enough to move when cleaning, easy to keep sanitary, and durable enough for everyday life. I appreciate investing in products that don't need to be replaced every year, and this is one of them.

Why We Prefer the Aluminum Frame

  • Built to last. The aluminum frame is sturdy enough to be used from puppyhood through adulthood.
  • Lightweight but strong. It's easy to move when cleaning or rearranging a crate.
  • Won't rust. Aluminum holds up well over time, even in damp environments.
  • Easy to clean. Hair, dust, and dirt don't collect on the frame the way they can with fabric beds.
  • Designed for daily use. It stands up to the routine of raising an active puppy.
  • A long-term investment. I expect families to use the same bed for years rather than replacing it as their puppy grows.

Why I Recommend a Freestanding Kuranda Bed

One of the things I appreciate most about a freestanding Kuranda bed is that it gives a Bernese Mountain Dog a place of their own. Whether we're spending time in the kitchen, relaxing in the backyard, or working in the shop, the bed becomes a familiar place where my dogs can settle comfortably while still being close to the family.

Unlike many traditional dog beds that flatten, tear, or need frequent replacement, the aluminum Kuranda bed is built for long-term use. The lightweight aluminum frame is rust-resistant, easy to move, and designed to withstand years of everyday life. If a fabric or component eventually wears out, replacement parts are available, allowing you to refresh the bed rather than replace the entire thing.

I also appreciate how easy these beds are to keep clean. Hair doesn't become trapped in thick stuffing, and the frame and fabric can be quickly wiped down or cleaned as needed. For busy families, that simplicity is a welcome benefit.

Because the bed is elevated, your dog is also resting off damp grass, muddy ground, hot concrete, or cold surfaces. Air is able to circulate beneath the bed, helping keep the resting surface dry and comfortable in a variety of environments.

Perhaps my favorite thing about a freestanding Kuranda bed isn't the construction—it's what it becomes. Over time, it becomes their place. A familiar spot where they naturally choose to relax, observe the family, and simply enjoy being close to the people they love.

For me, that's the greatest value of all. It's more than a dog bed—it's a place where a Bernese Mountain Dog can truly feel at home.

A Commitment to Health and Genetic Diversity

As a breeder, I look for products that make life simpler for both puppies and their families. A quality bed is one purchase you can make with confidence, knowing it will continue serving your puppy long after the excitement of bringing them home has passed.

Every Puppy Has Their Own Preference

Just like people, puppies have different preferences. Some love stretching out directly on their Kuranda bed, while others enjoy curling up on a soft, fuzzy blanket or plush bed placed on top.

One of the things I appreciate is that I don't have to choose between the two. The Kuranda provides a durable, elevated foundation, and if a puppy enjoys an extra-soft sleeping surface, I can simply add one on top. This gives my puppies options while still keeping them comfortably off the floor.

My goal isn't to convince every puppy to sleep the same way—it's to provide a comfortable, clean environment where they can discover what they enjoy most.
